Rules Girl has had the opportunity to work with amazing game publishers and designers over the years. From various games that once started out as a Kickstarter to several big box games that hit the shelves of Target, each video keeps us on our toes and helps us perfect our craft.
Here are a few examples of videos that have challenged and excited us over the years.
With several successful kickstarters, and being one of the few women-led companies in the board gaming industry, we were excited to roll out the new Rules Girl branding on Mechanica. The game is great, working with Resonym was great, and the beautiful game design really lends itself to our new look.
Game Description: In Mechanica, players try to amass wealth by installing improvements in their factories, which upgrade bots and ferry them into trucks for shipping or completing blueprints. You win the game by having the most money at the end of the game.
It was exciting to work on a big IP like Jurassic Park and great to work with the Ravensburger team. A few challenges we were able to overcome included coordinating so many assets, cards, hex tiles and other elements to tell the story of the game.
Game Description: One player controls the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, while the others are hapless humans! Humans must use their movement and special abilities to navigate the jungles, activate locations, attain their personal goals, and ultimately escape Isla Nublar, while avoiding the dangerous dinosaurs!
As the largest game Rules Girl has worked with, there were many complicated concepts to cover in Xia: Legends of a Drift System. Even with many assets and moving parts, we were able to explain the game flow well, and Cody and Ira were a dream to work with.
Game Description: In Xia, players are space captains, carving a name for themselves in the vast reaches of a star system. Players will explore the system and complete missions, while collecting resources and combating other players around the table.
